How to Fix HP Designjet Printer not Printing Landscape from AutoCAD 2008 and 2007

Follow the steps below that apply to your HP Designjet printer model below:

For HP Designjet 4500, 4000, 800 and 500

If you cannot print landscape on your HP Designjet 4500, 4000, 800, or 500 printers, do the following to resolve the issue:

i. For a page size that is not bigger than 42 inches, go to your printer’s printing preferences and do the following:

  • Ensure that the option for “Autorotate” in your driver settings is enabled.
  • Set the “Roll Size” to “42 inch roll”. Don’t select a smaller size even if your roll size is indeed smaller than the 42-inch size. This selection will make your driver believe that the printer has adequate paper to enable the rotation of the drawing.

ii. For a page size that is 42 inches, you will have to downgrade the version of your driver to 6.17. This driver is recommended because it doesn’t seem to have this issue of not printing in landscape.

At the end of this section, you will find the steps on how to downgrade the driver to the version we just mentioned.

For HP Designjet Z6100, Z3100, Z2100, T1100 and T610

If you cannot print landscape on your HP Designjet Z6100, Z3100, Z2100, T1100, or T610 printer, do the following steps to resolve the issue:

Step 1: On your Windows computer, navigate to the folder for “Printers and Faxes”.

Step 2: Right-click on the print queue.

Step 3: Click on “Properties”.

Step 4: Click on the tab labeled “Device Settings”.

Step 5: Change the option for “Automatic configuration” to “OFF” if it is turned on.

Step 6: Under “Paper loaded on roll”, do these:

i. Select “Custom” for “Width”.

ii. Set “44” as the “Custom width”.

How to Downgrade the Printer Driver to Version 6.17

To downgrade the printer driver to version 6.17, do the steps below:

Step 1: On your Windows computer, navigate to the folder for “Printers and Faxes”.
