Caution: Don’t touch the ink nozzle or copper-colored contact. Don’t place the tape back on the printhead contacts after it is removed. Doing any of these could lead to poor electrical connections, ink failure, and clogs.

Step 16: Move the printhead into the printhead slot at a somewhat upward angle.

Step 17: Push the printhead until you hear it snap in its slot.

Ensure that you put the tri-color printhead in the left slot and the black printhead in the right slot.

If any tank has ink below the minimum fill line, you need to refill that tank.

2. Open and then completely close the printer’s exterior door and the printhead access door.

Note: The recommendation from HP is that the printhead access door should be opened and then closed 3 to 4 times for proper removal of ink buildup and optimization of print quality.

Caution: When doing the process above, ensure that you don’t touch the latch of the printhead as doing so might leave the carriage open and cause ink system damage.
