Step 1: If the jammed paper in Tray 1 can be seen, just pull it out.

Step 2: If the jammed paper cannot be seen, shut Tray 1.

Step 3: Press down the tab at the Tray 2 cavity’s left side. This action will cause the tray plate to be lowered.

3. How to Fix HP Printer Jam in Tray 1 on HP LaserJet Pro X Series

To fix HP printer jam in Tray 1 on HP LaserJet Pro X series and other similar printer models, do the steps below:

Step 1: If you can see the jammed paper in Tray 1 and you can access it, just pull it out but do so gently.

Note: In case the paper tears, ensure that you remove all the fragments first before you try printing again.

Step 2: You might be able to access the jammed paper by taking out Tray 2, if this is the case, remove Tray 2 and then pull out the paper gently.

Step 3: If you can’t see the jammed paper in Tray 1, open the printer’s left door to reach the jammed paper.

Step 4: If you still can’t see or reach the paper, remove the printer’s duplexer. To do this, simply pull it out using one hand, and ensure that it remains level with your other hand to avoid ink from spilling. Place the duplexer upright on a flat surface to avoid ink from spilling.

Caution: When you take out the duplexer, do not touch the black cylinder directly to avoid the ink from smearing on your clothes or skin.

Step 5: Bring down the platen by pressing the green tab down. Your printer will now turn the feed shaft in a bid to eject the jammed paper. In case the paper is not fed completely, you will have to pull the jammed paper gently.

Step 6: Return the platen to its original position by lifting the green tab.

Step 7: Install the duplexer back into the printer.
