Follow the steps below to resolve any of the above HP printer errors in windows 10 to allow the installation of your HP printer software:
Unregister the Windows Installer Service and then reregister it – Step 1
i. Search for “Run”, then from the search results, click on “Run”.
ii. In the open dialog box, type “msiexec / unreg”.
iii. Click on “OK”.
iv. Open “Run” again.
v. In the open dialog box, type “msiexec / regserver”.
vi. Click on “OK”.
Download your Printer Software – Step 2
i. Turn on your HP printer.
ii. If necessary, remove any USB cable connected to your printer. If there is a need to connect the USB cable, when you install the software, you will receive a prompt to do so.
iii. Go to the HP website software download page.
iv. If a page for “Let’s identify your product to get started” appears, click on “Printer”.
v. Type in the model number of your HP printer.
vi. Click on “Submit”.
vii. You can choose to change your computer’s operating system. To do this, click on “Change”, then choose your OS version. After that, click on “Change”.
viii. Go to the heading for “Driver”, and then click on “Download” to get the full printer software package. Or you can click on “Basic Drivers” for other printer driver options.
Uninstall your HP Printer Software – Step 3
i. Go to the file location where the installation software was saved on your computer in step 2 above.
ii. Double-click on the file to extract it. This will cause the screen to display “Welcome to HP!”
iii. Click on “Exit” or “Cancel”.
iv. In the search box of your Windows computer, type “temp”.
v. Press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.
vi. Double-click on “7zXXX.tmp” (“XXX” stands for the printer’s software version).
vii. Double-click on “Unistall_L3_64.bat” or “Uninstall_L3.bat”.

Reinstall your HP Printer Software – Step 4
i. Go to the file location where the installation software was saved on your computer in step 2 above.
ii. Double-click on the file.

2. Error 2753, 2203, MSI.MSI_BPD_Scan, or MSI.DOT4wrp Displays – HP Printer Fatal Error During Installation Windows 10
Follow the steps below to resolve any of the above errors responsible for your HP printer being in error state in Windows 10 to allow the installation of your HP printer software:
Unregister the Windows Installer Service and then reregister it – Step 1
i. Search for “Run”, then from the search results, click on “Run”.
ii. In the open dialog box, type “msiexec / unregister”.
iii. Click on “OK”.
iv. Open “Run” again.
v. In the open dialog box, type “msiexec / register”.
vi. Click on “OK”.
vii. Try installing the HP printer software.
If the error is not resolved, and you still have either the “2203” or the “MSI.MSI_BPD_Scan” errors, then you should move to step 2 below.
If the error is not resolved, and you still have either the “2753” or the “MSI.DOT4wrp” errors, then skip step 2 below and move to step 3.
Reregister the ATL.DLL File – Step 2
i. Search for “Run”, then from the results, click on “Run”.
ii. In the open dialog box, type in “regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\atl.dll”.
iii. Click on “OK”.
iv. Try installing the HP printer software.
If the error is not resolved, move to step 3 below.
Temporarily Allow Full Permissions for the Folder of your Computer’s Program Files – Step 3
i. Open “File Explorer” or “Windows Explorer”.
ii. Click on “C:” or you can click on the hard disk drive.
iii. Right-click on your “Program Files”.
iv. Click on “Properties”.
v. Under the tab for “General” deselect the check box for the read-only option if it is selected.
vi. Click on “Apply”.
vii. Choose “Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files”.
viii. Click on “OK”.
ix. Try installing the HP printer software.
If the error is not resolved, move to step 4 below.
Turn off Some Select Services – Step 4
i. On the Windows search box, type in “service”.
ii. From the search results, click on “Services”.
iii. Double-click on the “PML Driver” (take note that the name might not be the same; you could have “PML Driver HPZ12”.
iv. Go to the tab for “General”, and then click on the “Startup Type” dropdown menu.
v. Choose “Disabled”.
vi. Click on “Apply”.
vii. Click on “OK”.
viii. From your computer’s “Services” window, double-click “Net Driver HPZ12”.
ix. In the tab for “General”, click on the “Startup Type” drop-down menu.

Remove the HPZi Files – Step 5
i. Open “File Explorer” or “Windows Explorer”.
ii. Click on “C:” or you can click on the hard disk drive.
iii. Double-click on “Windows”.
iv. Double-click on “System32”.
v. Find these files: “HPZipm12.dll” as well as “HPZinw12.dll”.
vi. Right-click on each file.
vii. Click “Delete”.
