Before you begin the setup process, you need to confirm that your device and printer meet these requirements to use HP ePrint via email:

i. Your printer must support the HP ePrint via email feature. You can find out if your printer supports this feature by checking this list.

ii. Your printer must be on an active internet connection.

iii. Your laptop or mobile device must have internet access and email capability.

Important: Although you need to connect your printer to an internet network to set up this feature, you don’t need your mobile device or laptop to be on the same network as your printer to print via HP ePrint.

Email Program Requirements – How to Add Printer HP ePrint

The following programs can be used for HP ePrint via email:

How to Turn Web Services on and Acquire the Printer Claim Code on HP Enterprise Printers

To turn Web Services on and acquire printer claim code on HP Enterprise printers, do the following:

i. Get the IP address of your HP printer: From the control panel’s Home screen, touch the icon for “Information”, and then tap the icon for “Ethernet”. This action will display the hostname or IP address of your printer.

ii. Open any web browser on your computer or mobile device. Type in your printer’s IP address in the browser’s address line and press your keyboard’s “Enter” key. This will open the Embedded Web Server.

Important: In case you see a message telling you that the website isn’t safe, ignore the message and choose the option that allows you to access the website. Your mobile device or computer won’t be harmed by the website.

iii. Check what tabs are available in the Embedded Web Server. If you only see the tab for “Information”, then it means you need to sign in. That’s the only way to access other settings and tabs in the Embedded Web Server. Therefore, click on the button labeled “Sign In” found in the page’s top-right corner. After that, sign in using the printer’s administrator password.

iv. Click on the tab “HP Web Services”, and then click on the button labeled “Enable Web Services”.

v. Click on the check box for “Enable HP ePrint”, and then click on “Apply”.

vi. Go to the tab “HP Web Services” and find the printer claim code. This code will be used to register with HP Connected.

i. From the control panel’s home screen, swipe downward at the tab found at the upper part of the screen. This action will open the printer’s Dashboard. Tap the icon for “HP ePrint”.

ii. On the screen for HP ePrint, tap “Setup” found at the bottom-right corner.

iii. On the screen for Setup Web Services, you’ll find the terms of use agreement; tap “Yes”. HP Web Services will now be enabled and your printer will print out an information page.

iv. On the information page, look for the printer claim code. This code will be used to register with HP Connected.

  • Open the menu “Network Setup”, and then choose “Show IP Address”.
  • Choose “Setup”, then “Network Setup”, then “General Settings”, and finally “Show the IP Address”, before selecting “Yes”.

HP Web Services will now be enabled and your printer will print out an information page.

iv. On the information page, look for the printer claim code. This code will be used to register with HP Connected.

Step 2 – Create an HP Connected Account

To create an HP Connected account, follow the instructions below:

i. Go to http://www.hpconnected.com/ and then create your account.

ii. Ensure you click on “Accept Cookies”. If you want to change your cookie preferences, click on “Cookie Settings”. Once you are done with the changes, accept cookies. You must accept cookies to proceed.

iii. Type in the printer claim code you acquired in step 1 and then click on “Add”.

iv. An email address will be generated automatically and shown above the image of your HP printer.

v. Do the following if you would like to customize the printer email address. (Note that this is noncompulsory)

a. Click on the (+) plus sign beside “ePrint Address” under “ePrint Settings”.

b. Type in a new address. The “@hpeprint.com” prefix will remain the same.

c. Click on “Submit”.

d. For HP LaserJet Pro printers: You can view the email address you just updated by doing the following: Open “Setup”, click on “HP Web Services”, then click on “Display E-mail Address”.

Step 3 – Configure Settings on HP ePrint

Do the following settings configuration on HP ePrint.

Configure Allowed Senders (Optional)

You can choose who can send print jobs via HP ePrint to your printer by configuring allowed senders. To do this, do the following:

i. Go to your HP Connected account.

ii. Click on the (+) plus sign beside “ePrint Access” under “ePrint Settings”.

iii. Click on “Blocked” if you want to add a new list for blocked senders. Or click on “Allowed” if you want to add a new list for allowed senders.

Note: If you click on “Open to Anyone”, then anyone who knows the email address of your printer can send print jobs to your printer. Hence, it is best that you set the ePrint access to “Allowed”.

iv. Type in the email address that you either want to allow or block (depending on what you want to do) one after the other. You can then click “Add” once you are done adding to the list.

Change the Print Default Settings (Optional)

To change the print default settings, do the following:

i. Go to your HP Connected account.

ii. Click on the (+) plus sign beside “ePrint Preferences” under “ePrint Settings”.

iii. Change the settings you want which include:

  • Color: Monochrome or Color
  • Paper: Plain paper or Photo paper
  • Side: 1-sided or 2-sided
